The city of Milton said it’s become the first city in the country to become special needs certified, a designation conferred by Georgia-based Special Needs Certified.

The organization trains business and government employees through on-line videos and materials to help them better understand, engage and serve special needs citizens. The company said it represents more than 50 million individuals with special needs in the U-S.

With city employees trained, the company will list Milton’s designation on its website and social media sites.
