Milton Fire Marshal Matt Marietta has been named a Certified Emergency Manager by the International Association of Emergency Managers, the highest honor the group awards.

Marietta, a decorated police officer, firefighter and Ph.D candidate, spent three years in specialized planning and teaching roles and contributing to the field with research. He was certified as an Associate Emergency Manager in 2008, and has since overseen Milton's emergency management planning and execution.
