Milton closes $1.1M green space deal at Eads Lake

Milton announced it has closed the purchase of 15.8 acres of undeveloped land on Eads Lake, using about $1.1 million of a voter-approved green space bond issue to add to the city’s conservation holdings.

The City Council voted in February to pay $72,500 an acre to acquire the land at 13502 Providence Road; the sellers were GFLIRB LLC and Douglas R. Coe, according to the sales contract. The parcel is next to an 88-acre tract on the southeast corner of Bethany and Providence roads that the city bought for green space in June, 2019.

"This means the city of Milton now owns both sides of Eads Lake for passive use," according to a Facebook posting. "Both properties are closed to the public at this time."

The Milton Greenspace Advisory Committee had recommended the acquisition to protect water quality and habitat and provide for a possible, future trail connection from Bethany to Providence roads. Information: https://bit.ly/2LUOLrf
