The Milton City Council has approved a $2.3 million construction services agreement for the Northeast Crabapple Connector Project, intended to give motorists a way to bypass congestion in the downtown Crabapple area.

CMES Inc., which submitted the lowest of three bids for the work, is charged with constructing the connector including grading, asphalt paving, storm drain installation, sidewalks and landscaping, according to a staff report to the council.

The construction agreement calls for the creation of a roundabout at Charlotte Drive and Mayfield Road, and an extension of Charlotte from Mayfield to Birmingham Highway.

The Northeast Crabapple Connector is one of the first projects funded and implemented in Milton under the Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax approved by Fulton County voters outside Atlanta in November 2016, a city website says: https://bit.ly/2DsHDxy
