The Milton City Council has approved an agreement with the Porter Academy to share access to playing fields next to the school and recently acquired by the city.

The reciprocal facility use agreement, sharing usage of Cox Road, continues an arrangement the school has had with three different owners over the last 20 years, Jim Cregge, director of parks and recreation, said in a memo to the council.

Last fall, Milton paid $1.5 million to United Athletics Inc. to buy 8.1 acres of soccer and lacrosse fields at 170 Cox. The Porter Academy is next door, at 200 Cox.

“For the Porter Academy, they gain access to the fields at the sports complex for recreation and gym classes during the day when their school is in session,” Cregge said. “For the sports complex owners, they gain access to additional parking in the evening and also have easier ingress and egress to Cox Road.”

The Porter Academy is a school for children with learning difficulties in pre-kindergarten through 8th grade. Information: https://www.porteracademy.org/
