A 1.1-mile stretch of Buford Highway in Gwinnett County was closed for emergency water main repairs Thursday afternoon, according to an alert sent by the county Department of Transportation.

The county’s water department began repairs on a water main leak, but found the leak wasn’t as bad as anticipated, county spokesman Joe Sorenson said. Instead of closing the whole road, only a turn lane will remain closed during the repair.
