The Federal Emergency Management Agency wants residents living in the Upper Chattahoochee River Region to “Resolve to be Ready” for disasters by learning about their updated flood risks on recently released preliminary flood insurance rate maps.
The mapping project covers a 107-mile stretch of the river from Buford Dam to Coweta County, and includes seven metro Atlanta counties.
Residents can buy reduced-rate flood insurance before the maps take effect next year.

Georgia will soon start producing new license plates with a design depicting a peach orchard. The new plates will also have a digital design, meaning that they will not have raised numbers and letters.
Owners of a registered vehicle with the current Georgia...On My Mind plate will receive the new plate during their renewal. If you would like the new tag and it's not time to renew and/or your tag is less than five years old, you may turn in your tag and buy the new one for $25.
