State Road and Tollway Authority Director Gena Evans has canceled her scheduled presentation on the I-85 HOT lane project, which was to take place next week in Gainesville.
According to the Gainesville-Hall Metropolitan Planning Organization, where she had agreed to speak months ago, Evans has a schedule conflict. A spokeswoman for Evans said she now would be briefing Gov. Nathan Deal on the project instead.

The federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission is suing a large South Georgia vegetable farm in federal court, alleging it discriminated against U.S. workers and fired them in favor of Mexican guest workers.
Hamilton Growers/Southern Valley Fruit and Vegetable Inc. also fired black American workers because of their race and national origin, the EEOC says in the complaint it filed last month.
Hamilton has denied the allegations and accused the U.S. workers of violating attendance rules, loitering and failing to keep up with the work, EEOC records show.

Rob Watts will serve as interim president of Georgia Highlands College starting Jan. 1, following the retirement of president Randy Pierce, the University System of Georgia announced Friday. The Rome college serves about 5,500 students.
Watts, who was recently the system's chief operating officer, is often called on to serve as interim president. He's held this position at Georgia Highlands, Georgia Perimeter College, Middle Georgia College and was the interim director of the Gwinnett University Center before it became Georgia Gwinnett College.
