Metro Atlanta gas prices continued to skyrocket in the wake of Hurricane Isaac, reaching an average of $3.94 a gallon early Wednesday.

That’s an increase of more than a dime in just 24 hours, and 22 cents more than last Wednesday’s average price, according to atlantagasprices.com, a website that tracks the cost of gasoline.

Atlanta’s average price early Wednesday was 15 cents above the national average, the website said.

A few stations, mainly in the Cartersville and Buford areas, were charging $3.65 a gallon; at the other end of the price spectrum, several stations in Buckhead were charging $4.19.

Statewide, the cheapest gas was $3.45 to $3.50 a gallon at numerous stations in the northwest corner of Georgia.
