"Ghost signs" are the hand-painted advertisements of yesteryear that can still be viewed on some old buildings. Metro Atlanta has its share of them, if you know where to look. Peachtree Street at Third Street: This building used to be the home of Agatha's Mystery Theater. These two ghost signs became visible when the building next door, which housed the Bridgetown Grill, was demolished. The typography on the signs is elegant and eye-catching, even if the words are difficult to make out. The sign on the bottom left appears to include the words "floor coverings," "distinction" and "blinds." (Photos and captions by PETE CORSON / PCORSON@AJC.COM)
