A campaign to help raise money for the design and installation of a K-9 memorial statue in DeKalb County has reached its halfway mark, county officials announced this week. Of the $10,000 estimated for the project, $5,510 has been donated so far, according to a news release.
The monument, titled “Hero, Partner, Friend,” will be located at DeKalb County Police Headquarters, 1960 West Exchange Place in Decatur and will sit on the hill where the current police headquarters signage is, overlooking the projected police and firefighter monuments. It is purposefully located behind the other monuments as dogs always have officers’ backs.
The DeKalb County Police Alliance is accepting donations through a Go Fund Me Account at www.gofundme.com/j04jvk
