The Snellville City Council will hold a special meeting for the first reading of a pending rezoning, land use plan amendment application and variances by Lynwood Properties at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 17 at City Hall, 2342 Oak Road. The developer hopes to add 45 houses to the already approved approximate 100-home plan on 14.858 acres near Eastside Medical Center.

The development, now in its third incarnation, originally hoped to include Snellville’s first apartment complex. Negative reaction from residents led Lynwood Properties to resubmit the plan last October as a high-end single-family community for seniors. The zoning request, if approved, would change from medium density to low density single-family residential.

A public hearing and final vote on the proposal will take place Feb. 23.
