The McDonough City Council approved at its May 3 workshop meeting the allocation of $399,965.64 for the purchase and installation of a splash pad and playground at Avalon Park.

The funds for this project will come from the city’s SPLOST account. The city accepted a bid from Great Southern Recreation for the job, which city officials said was not only the lowest bid but also the best according to the project’s specifications. Approximately two-thirds of the total cost is for the splash pad and the remainder is for the playground.
