The McDonough City Council voted at its Aug. 19 regular meeting to approve its project list for the upcoming SPLOST referendum which will be decided by voters in November.

Revenue is projected to be around $17.5 million for the city. Transportation projects will take the majority of the city’s money, with $10.1 million designated for various road and intersection improvements. Public safety accounts for $4.85 million, with plans to spend the money on a McDonough Parkway fire station and equipment as well as fire trucks, police cars and IT infrastructure.

Other county facilities in a separate category amount to $2.45 million, with $1.5 million of that going toward a community center. Parks and recreation projects amount to $830,000. Public works will receive $250,000.
