The McDonough Police Department is acquiring a pair of drones for use in emergency situations and at various city events.

The cost for the airborne equipment is $29,650 and they will be available to other city departments as well. The purchase was approved at the City Council’s April 4 meeting. Also approved was a $42,955 expenditure to expand the WiFi and microwave network in the Avalon Park area, and $87,500 for audio/video replacement of old analog sound and displays with new digital systems.

The council approved a $32,130 adjustment in video production work for the Polk interactive museum as well as a $16,650 initial cost and $12,000 annual subscription fee for new software to approve video streaming of meetings and agenda management.
