Decatur High School’s master plan gets unveiled during an open house 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday at the DHS Performing Arts Center, 310 North McDonough Street. Preliminary work on phase one, which includes underground utilities, roughly seven more trailers, new parking replacing the current garden (a new garden gets added in a later phase) and foundation work for a new building in the lower parking lot, begins this spring. Actual construction on the new building, to include a cafeteria, kitchen and 18-21 classrooms, should begin in July. A question-answer session will follow a brief presentation from the design/build team.
