Some MARTA riders get their exercise by running after the bus or train.

But the transit system is giving them another way to stretch their legs by offering yoga at a free health fair at Five Points MARTA station noon to 2 p.m. Thursday.

The event is in honor of National Get on Board Day, which aims to raise support for public transit as part of the American Public Transportation Association’s advocacy campaign.

Participants will be treated to a lunchtime yoga session on the Station Soccer field, live cooking demonstrations and popsicles from King of Pops.

There will also be interactive exhibits from Relay Bikes, Georgia Commute Options and Grady Memorial Hospital.

Participants are encouraged to ride MARTA to the health fair and bring their own mats. To register for the event, visit:

The fair is the latest effort by the transit system to promote health among Atlanta residents. MARTA launched the Fresh MARTA Market to address food deserts by providing a farmer's market at select train stations throughout the year.
