Firefighters sent to douse an overnight blaze at a house in south Fulton County found dozens of suspected marijuana plants growing in the basement.

The fire broke out in a house on Old Fairburn Road.

"There was no one in the home, but the home was occupied, Fulton fire Battalion Chief Markus Jones told Channel 2 Action News.

"During the search, we did locate several what appeared to be marijuana plants growing in the basement," Jones told the station. "They had several plants with hydro lighting, as well as all of the makings to make plants grow real well."

Channel 2 reported that about 50 four- to five-foot-tall plants were found, and that the lights used to grow the plants possibly sparked the fire.
