The Marietta City Schools annual Teacher of the Year handprint ceremony is at 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 5.

Joanna Cox, the Marietta City school district teacher of the year, will unveil her handprints in the traditional "walk of honor" and handprint ceremony on the Marietta Square. Cox is a music teacher at Sawyer Road Elementary.

The handprint event kicks off the 23rd anniversary of the Cobb Chamber's Give Our Schools a Hand program, which encourages involvement in the school system by businesses, parents and civic groups.
