Residents sheltering in place to help flatten the curve of the coronavirus pandemic will have a way to enjoy one of the most popular events on Marietta Square.

Galleries on the Square will host the first-ever Virtual Art Walk at 5 p.m. Friday, April 3.

The free, self-guided Marietta Square First Friday Art Walk is usually held the first Friday of each month, but has been canceled due to the pandemic.

Residents who need a dose of culture can visit onlineartwalk.com or the Marietta Square Art Walk Facebook and Instagram accounts to check out the work of more than 200 artists on display from dk Gallery, The Loft, Muse & Co., North Park Gallery and RobertKent Galleries.

Viewers will be able to virtually walk through the galleries and explore their exhibits. Each show at the gallery will feature information about the work, purchase options and artists’ statements.

“It is as close to a real-life experience as we can create online,” said Jennifer Boykin of Boykin Creative Studio, who captured the art on the tour. “I’m thrilled to be able to work with the galleries to deliver this opportunity to collectors and patrons, as well as the many visitors that come to the Marietta Square each month to enjoy a night out.”

The current shows will remain accessible online through April 30. The next installment of the in-person Marietta Square Art Walk is scheduled for Friday, May 1.
