A ban has been established by the Marietta City Council on the use of bicycles, skates, skateboards, roller blades and similar devices on city property and in parks and the central business district.

Also, at the request of the Marietta Police Department, the following park hours have been set at:

  • 6 a.m. to sunset for parks without lighted amenities.
  • 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. for parks with lighted amenities.
  • 6 a.m. to 3:25 a.m. for Glover Park on the Marietta Square.

Outside of those hours, “no person” will be allowed in Marietta parks, including Glover Park - except those authorized by the city’s parks and recreation director, according to the new city ordinance.

For that two hours and 35 minutes at Glover Park, the ban does “not apply to city employees or officials on city business and may be waived by the city manager for certain city-sponsored events,” the new ordinance states.
