The Marietta Board of Education voted June 16 to spend $124,849 on new laptops for administrators and teachers and $246,853 for new Science Techbooks for K-12 students.
The 100 DELL E5450s laptops, with docking stations and external DVDs, will be purchased from DELL Marketing LP.
They will replace the DELL E5420s that have been in service for more than four years and will be redistributed throughout the district.
For the next three academic years, Discovery Education will supply the highly interactive Science Techbooks with multimedia resources, including video, audio, text, interactive tasks and professional learning.
Science Techbooks provide hands-on activities, virtual labs and technology-enhanced formative assessment and can work on any device with 24/7 access for teachers and students from school or home.
