Road closures will begin Sept. 18 in Marietta for construction of the bridge connecting the Mountain to River Trail over the South Loop.
Partial closures of the section of South Marietta Parkway (South Loop) between Atlanta Street and Powder Springs Road will begin at 7 p.m. Sept. 18 with a full closure of the section at 9 p.m. until the bridge is set in place, according to a city statement.
More than 15 years in the making, the Mountain to River Trail stretches from Kennesaw Mountain, continues through the Marietta Square and ends at the city limits on Atlanta Street.
The trail serves as the backbone for future growth of Marietta’s planned trail system which will connect pedestrians and cyclists from across the city and separated trail systems from across Cobb County.
