The Marietta Housing Authority has awarded a contract to John Wieland Homes to build a $15 million residential development at a former public housing site on Cole Street east of the Marietta Square.

The Fort Hill Homes project was razed three years ago. The Marietta City Council will have to approve the redevelopment. In the last three years, the council has approved plans to build upscale housing at three former public housing properties. Another Wieland development is going up off Roswell Street, and Brock Built Homes is negotiating to build single-family homes at the former Boston Homes site off Washington Avenue.
