Marietta Power & Water will soon resume service disconnections, but the city will throw a lifeline to customers who have experienced hardships related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Service disconnections start Tuesday, June 16, but the utility will offer a payment plan for customers to extend the payment of past-due amounts up to six months. The utility's board in March suspended utility disconnections through June 15 to ease the financial burden brought on by the pandemic.

Customers can set up payment plans by visiting Marietta Power & Water's website. Once the customer submits the form, the utility's Customer Care Department will finish the process and send an email containing the approved plan.

Payments will most likely be due on or around the normal date and any current charges will be due along with those made with the payment plan, Marietta Power & Water said.
