The Marietta Police Department has been selected by the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police (GACP) as the recipient of the 2011 Dr. Curtis McClung Award of Excellence for its Gun Safety Seminar Program.

The award was presented Tuesday at the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police annual banquet in Savannah. The seminar provides gun safety training by police firearms instructors to the public with a focus on gun safety. The program also encourages personal dialogue with police that often evolves into discussions about community concerns.
