An undercover operation by Marietta police found more than half the city's pawn shops violated the law.

Seven of 13 pawn shops committed a range of violations in last week's operation, including knowingly accepting property described as stolen, police said Wednesday. Police issued 25 citations, arrested two people and terminated three store permits.

Police conducted the operation with help from Home Depot and Target's criminal investigation teams. The companies supplied many of the products the undercover officers took to the pawn shops.

The businesses cited were Cash America Pawn #3, 587 Cobb Parkway South; Value Pawn & Jewelry, 493 Cobb Parkway South; Cobb Pawn Shop, 1690 Cobb Parkway South; Cash America Pawn #6, 744 Sandtown Road; We Buy Gold, 586 Cobb Parkway South; We Buy Gold, 595 #C Roswell St.; and Pawn Mart 16, 316 Cobb Parkway South.

Police said these businesses complied with regulations: AAA Pawn, 591 Powder Springs St.; Big Chicken Pawn, 40 Cobb Parkway North; Eastside Trading Company, 1236 Roswell Road; Gold ‘N Pawn, 550 Franklin Road; The Hock Shop, 150 Cobb Parkway North; and The Southeast Gold Buyers, 2580 Windy Hill Road.
