Marietta Middle School has earned the designation of being a GeorgiaScience, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Certified Program.
The school is the sixth middle school and 29th school in Georgia to hold this certification and the third school within Marietta City Schools to hold STEM Certification.
The other schools are the Marietta Center for Advanced Academics and Marietta Sixth Grade Academy.
Marietta City Schools is one of only four districts in Georgia to have three schools with STEM Certification.
STEM Certification involves several visits from the Georgia Department of Education, proof of STEM industry business partnerships, parent and student interviews, classroom observations and application approval.
