A Kennesaw State University student was killed Tuesday morning in a two-car crash in Cobb County, police said.

Alan J. Morales-Hernandez, 28, of Marietta, was driving a Toyota Corolla when it was hit by a Jeep Wrangler on South Cobb Drive shortly after 8 a.m., Cobb police spokeswoman Alicia Chilton said.

Investigators said the Jeep was westbound when the Toyota turned left onto Alumni Drive in the Jeep’s path.

The front of the Jeep hit the right front of the Toyota, Chilton said.

Morales-Hernandez was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The Jeep’s driver, 27-year-old Phillip A. Sangster of Atlanta, also was taken to Kennestone with non-life-threatening injuries, Chilton said. Sangster is a Cobb County police officer who was off-duty at the time.

The crash is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call 770-499-3987.

Morales-Hernandez was majoring in architecture, according to a KSU announcement.
