A Marietta man was badly hurt Tuesday night when he was struck by a car while trying to cross a busy Cobb County road.

Marietta police spokesman Michael Gardner said Kevin Donelson was crossing Roswell Road at North Marietta Parkway just after 10:30 p.m. Tuesday when he was hit by a southbound Hyundai Sonata.

Gardner said Donelson, 21, was in a crosswalk, but did not have the right-of-way.

Donelson was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital and was in critical condition early Wednesday, Gardner said.

"Alcohol is believed to be a factor and charges are pending against Mr. Donelson," Gardner said.

The driver of the Hyundai stopped and has not been charged.
