Marietta’s Historic Preservation Commission will host a neighborhood meeting about the possibility of creating a locally designated historic district in the Church Cherokee neighborhood area.

The meeting will be 7 p.m. Sept. 2 at the Council Chambers, City Hall, 205 Lawrence St., Marietta.

If the district is approved, properties within such a district first must receive a Certificate of Appropriateness from the city’s Historic Preservation Commission before making a material change in the appearance of a property.
