It's not a question of "if" an ice rink is coming to the Marietta Square. It's now a question of "when."

The Parks, Recreation and Tourism Committee will meet Wednesday to schedule the start of construction of the Glover Park rink.

The Historic Marietta Square Branding Project, which is backing the ice rink, requested a start date of Nov. 20, in advance of the holiday season, according to the meeting agenda.

The project is initially funded by a $43,000 tourism grant from the city, according to the Marietta Daily Journal.

“It was worth the $43,000 investment,” Mayor Steve Tumlin told the Daily Journal.

The committee will meet at Marietta City Hall on Wednesday at 5:15 p.m. Read the full agenda here.
