The Cobb County 2-year-old girl who suffered a severe head injury allegedly at the hands of her babysitter has died.

Isabelle Cordero died Monday afternoon, according to Officer Jenny Murphy with Marietta police. Her babysitter, 27-year-old Humberto Hernandez-Pineda, now faces a felony murder charge.

Hernandez-Pineda was arrested Saturday morning after police were called to a Franklin Road apartment, where officers found Isabelle suffering from a life-threatening head injury. The toddler was apparently in his care at the time she suffered the injury, police said.

Hernandez-Pineda remains in the Cobb County jail without bond, Murphy said. He also  is suspected of being in the United States illegally, according to his booking information.

Police are asking that anyone with information call 770-794-5300 or 770-794-2363.
