A detailed plan for a townhome community in Marietta was approved recently by the City Council.

The eight townhomes will be built at 127, 135 and 141 South Ave. on about .8 acre.

Each 2,516-square-foot unit will consist of three levels - the garage and basement on the lower level, the kitchen and living room on the second floor and the bedrooms on the third floor.

These units will be accessed by a short, private street that terminates at three guest parking spaces, a mail kiosk and green space with a gazebo, according to Marietta Planning and Zoning Manager Shelby Little.

The detailed plan includes 20-foot-long driveways but no interior sidewalks for the development.

Applicants for Gateway Townhomes are Harris, Fritz and Associates based in Marietta.
