A 23-year-old man is recovering after being shot Sunday while walking along a southeast Atlanta street, police said.

The incident happened about 1:45 p.m. Sunday near the entrance to the Trestletree Village Apartment Homes at the intersection of East Confederate Avenue and Confederate Court.

Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones said the victim, whose name has not been released, told investigators he saw a silver Chevrolet Malibu drive slowly past.

“The front passenger stuck a gun out the window and fired four to five shots at the victim, who was walking down the sidewalk,” Jones said in an e-mail.

She said the victim was struck once in the thigh, and was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition.

Investigators recovered four shell casings at the scene, Jones said.

Police have not released a motive for the shooting.
