The northbound lanes of I-285 in south DeKalb County have reopened after being closed when a man threatened to jump from an overpass, police said.

The man climbed over the fence on the Rainbow Drive overpass around 4 a.m. Wednesday.

DeKalb police Lt. Dane Cunningham told the AJC that the man, who was in his 40s, was threatening to jump.

"He was having some domestic issues," Cunningham said. "Apparently, he was going through a divorce"

Police were able to talk the man down off the bridge, and the interstate reopened to traffic shortly before 5:30 a.m.
