A man stuck in a trench in Carroll County died, according to Carroll County Fire Rescue.

Kris Corley, 53, of Heflin, Ala., worked for Thompson Grading, an excavation and grading company. He was working on the trench when it collapsed on top of him, and fellow workers called a rescue team from Haralson County.

Both Carroll County and Haralson County emergency managment service the area. Emergency workers from Carroll County removed the body.

Channel 2 Action News reported seeing trench boxes, which are used to secure the walls of the hole, at the site. The Georgia Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the incident.

The incident occurred near Jake Bumcombe Road in Waco, in west Georgia.
