An Atlanta man was recovering Friday after being shot multiple times, apparently by three different gunmen, at a southwest Atlanta apartment complex.

Atlanta police Capt. Adam Lee III told the AJC that the shooting happened about 10 p.m. Thursday outside an apartment in the 200 block of Peyton Place.

The victim, a man about 30 years old whose name has not been released, was shot multiple times in the upper torso by three assailants, Lee said.

All three appeared to have fired weapons at the victim, according to witnesses.

Lee said the apparent motive was retaliation for something the victim had done.

"We don't know for what, but there was an argument and a witness heard someone say, ‘that's him right there,' and then the three guys started shooting," Lee said.

The victim was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition.
