A man was shot multiple in a parking lot Saturday night in southwest Atlanta, police said.

The incident happened around 11 p.m. Saturday night.

According to the victim, he had left a restaurant in the 200 block of Peters Street to walk to a parking lot at the corner of Peters and Fair streets to get a friend from the car, Officer Kim Jones with the Atlanta Police Department said.

He said he heard multiple gunshots, then saw five to six males running from the parking lot, Jones said.

The victim then walked back to Peters Street, Jones said.

A clerk at the business next door told police that a man walked into the store saying he was in a nearby parking lot when he was shot in the head. The man did not say who shot him, police said.

The victim was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, Jones said. He is being treated for multiple gunshot wounds, including one to the head, she said. There was no word on his condition Sunday morning.

There were no witnesses located.

The investigation is continuing.
