An 18-year-old has been charged with reckless conduct and involuntary manslaughter after shooting to death a 20-year-old man Friday morning near downtown Athens, police said.

Chateaubrian Lafontain Bailey died from a single gun shot after being transported to the hospital, Hilda Sorrow with Athens-Clarke County police said. Kevin Browner was taken into custody following the incident, Sorrow said.

The incident happened in 100 block of Hickman Drive in the Bethel Mid-Town Village apartments, but neither man lived there, Sorrow said.

The shooting death appears to be accidental, police said.
