A 23-year-old Cobb County man was killed when a verbal argument led to gunfire inside a computer store Wednesday afternoon.

Investigators believe Jerry Lovings, 55, of Mableton, shot Jonathan Brooks multiple times inside the Computer Repair store at Ragan Plaza, near the intersection of Veterans Memorial Highway and Floyd Road in Mableton, according to Sgt. Dana Pierce with Cobb County police.

When officers arrived, Brooks was found in the parking lot of the strip mall and Lovings was about a block away, Pierce said.

Brooks was transported to Wellstar Cobb Hospital, but died as a result of his injuries, police said.

Lovings was taken into custody and later charged with murder and aggravated assault. He was booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, where he was being held Wednesday night without bond.
