Man shot and killed near Georgia Dome identified

The man shot and killed Monday while pumping gas near the Georgia Dome has been identified as Kenneth Davis, 32, of Baltimore.

The shooting happened a few minutes after noon Monday at a Chevron station and Subway sandwich shop at the corner of Northside Drive and Markham Street, about two blocks south of the Dome.

Atlanta police spokeswoman Officer Kim Jones told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Davis was shot in the head.

The gunman walked up on the victim and fired at least one shot, police said.

Police investigators don’t believe the shooting was random, but are still trying to determine a motive, homicide unit Capt. Paul Guerrucci said.

“It appears he was targeted for one reason or another,” Guerrucci said. “But there were other people around.”

No description of the suspect was immediately available.

The investigation continues.
