Miguel Willis didn’t think twice about saving a baby injured in a crash on Bethsaida Road.

Willis’ quick thinking saved the 6-month-old girl whose mother was killed in the Wednesday wreck.

Michelle Greene, 20, and her baby, Michaela, were turning onto Jonesboro Road when they pulled in front of a box truck. The two men in the truck were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The baby was taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston.

Willis told Channel 2 Action News he was driving home from work when he saw the crash. Then, “instinct kicked in.”

“The driver side of the jeep was in the middle of the car,” Willis told Channel 2. “The driver was on the passenger side. I tried to get her out from the passenger side door.”

Willis said he was determined to save the girl as the jeep caught fire, but he wished there was more he could have done.

“I talked with the baby’s aunt on the father’s side and just (got) a lot of thank you’s, a lot of thank you’s.”

The baby’s family said she is expected to make a full recovery.

A memorial formed near the crash site, Channel 2 reported. The family set up a Crowdwise account to raise money for funeral costs.
