A Marietta man operating an all-terrain vehicle was hospitalized Tuesday after he was hit by a car in Cobb County.

Cobb County police officers were dispatched to the accident at 9:08 p.m. April 16 on Windy Hill Road at Pine Branch Drive in Marietta.

Police say a black and red Honda 250 ATV was traveling eastbound on a sidewalk on Windy Hill Road while a 2011 Mazda 3 was going in the same direction in the right travel lane. According to police, the ATV entered the path of the car and the Mazda struck the ATV.

Ronnie S. Newton of Marietta, the operator of the ATV, was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Mazda, 20-year-old Jose L. Contreras of Brookhaven, was not injured.

The crash is under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to call Cobb County police at 770-499-3987.
