A 28-year-old man was killed and three others injured when he lost control of his SUV, left the roadway and struck a tree Saturday night in Cobb County, according to police.
Corey W. Green of Powder Springs was driving a maroon 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer southbound on Hiram Lithia Springs Road, near Garrett Springs Drive, when he attempted to negotiate a right-hand curve, Cobb police Officer Alicia Chilton said. Green lost control of the vehicle, left the western edge of the roadway and collided with a tree, causing the SUV to flip, investigators said.
Green was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, where he died from his injuries in the crash, which happened about 6:45 p.m., Chilton said. A 4-year old girl in the Chevrolet, whose name was not released, was flown to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite and treated for serious injuries, police said.
Two other passengers, 23-year-old Hillary Brinson of Powder Springs and a 9-month old girl, were both taken to Kennestone and treated for their injuries, police said. Their conditions were not released Sunday night.
The crash is under investigation, and anyone with information about it is asked to call police at 770-499-3987.
