Gwinnett County police are investigating what they are calling an “unfortunate incident” in which a man was killed by a truck his mother was driving.

Police went to a Snellville residence at around 11:15 p.m. Sunday after getting a call that a car had hit someone and then crashed into a house.

Rita Watson, 64, was driving a pickup truck when she lost control of it for unknown reasons and hit her son, who was standing between the truck and the building, police said. The son, 29-year-old Rashad Watson, died after being taken to Eastside Medical Center.

The truck then crashed into the building in front of it. Police said Rita and Rashad Watson were in the process of moving in. Other residents of the four-unit property were inside at the time, but were not injured.
