Man gets life in Clarkston rape, robberies
A DeKalb County man who once made a daring jail escape has been sentenced to life in prison on a series of charges including rape and armed robbery.
DeKalb Superior Court Judge Tangela Barrie on Thursday sentenced Kenneth Trusty, 30, to life without the possibility of parole on charges of rape, aggravated sodomy, armed robbery, two counts of burglary, false imprisonment, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and battery, said DeKalb spokesman Orzy Theus.
Trusty was convicted of raping one victim on Dec. 19, 2008, at an apartment complex in Clarkston. He had also been charged with a burglary on Dec. 26, 2008, also in Clarkston, Theus said.
Trusty pleaded guilty to two of three indictments and had previously been found guilty of robbery and armed robbery, Theus said.
April of last year Trusty escaped from jail by tying bed sheets together, climbing onto the rim of a basketball goal and scaling the wall of the recreation yard.
