Cartersville police are investigating a shooting Sunday night that left a 28-year-old man dead.

Officers dispatched to the Sun-Glo Car Wash on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive just after 11 p.m. found Randal Statler Jr. dead beside his pickup truck, according to Cartersville police Capt. Mark S. Camp.

Camp said in an e-mail that investigators believe Statler was shot once during a robbery.

“Mr. Statler had apparently been ‘mudding’ earlier with family members and had come to the car wash to wash the mud off of his pickup truck,” Camp said.

He said investigators had no suspects in the slaying.
