Police were investigating Wednesday evening the shooting death of a man in northwest Atlanta.

Atlanta police responded around 2:30 p.m. to a report of shots fired at the Gables 820 West apartments on West Marietta Street, Officer John Chafee told the AJC.

There, officers found a man's body in a breezeway, Chafee said. The victim's name was not released.

Investigators believe a confrontation may have begun inside an apartment and continued outside, but a motive had not been determined Wednesday evening, Chafee said.

No suspects had been identified as of 6 p.m., Chafee told the AJC. Anyone with information was asked to contact police.
