An 82-year-old man who disappeared from a group home early Sunday in Gwinnett County has been found safe, police said.

Roderick Stewart had last been seen on Glen Heights Way in Snellville, where he lives in a group home with two other residents, authorities said. His caretaker reportedly put him to bed around 10:30 p.m. Saturday, then heard a door slam around 4:30 a.m. and noticed Stewart was missing.

Stewart had wandered away before, but not from this location, police said.

He was found late Sunday morning when a resident of a Hapsburg Way home called to report a suspicious male in the driver’s seat of his pickup truck, Gwinnett police spokeswoman Cpl. Michele Pihera said. Stewart was conscious and alert and was transported to a hospital for evaluation.
